ENVIPRESS: THE SCREW PRESS FOR SLUDGE THICKENING AND DEWATERING IN WATER TREATMENT

Our Envipress screw presses deliver excellent performance for sludge thickening and dewatering in small and medium-sized municipal and industrial wastewater treatment plants, thanks to their low energy consumption and a multi-disc design that keeps the drainage gaps open and reduces the risk of clogging during continuous operation.

  • Reduce the final sludge volume and the costs of transportation, storage, and disposal.
  • Automate the sludge dewatering line with minimal operator intervention.
  • Easy integration and commissioning of the equipment in new wastewater treatment plants or existing facilities with limited available space.

They integrate all components into a compact stainless steel unit.

OPERATION OF THE ENVIPRESS SCREW PRESS

Following conditioning in the special flocculation tank, the sludge enters the inlet zone located at the beginning of each screw press. It is then transported by the helical movement of the auger and, finally, progressively dewatered and compacted.

The water is separated from the sludge through the gap between the moving discs. The movement of these discs also promotes continuous self-cleaning of the spaces between them, thereby preventing the machine from becoming clogged or blocked.

MAIN EQUIPMENT COMPONENTS

ENVIPRESS is a compact screw press for sludge treatment.

The main part consists of one or more screw augers with shafts, depending on the model. Each shaft rotates inside a kind of channel formed by fixed and moving discs arranged alternately. These discs are manufactured entirely from AISI 304 or AISI 316L stainless steel.

Our multidisc screw presses incorporate all the components required to complete the dewatering process.

Numbered main components of the ZEUS screw press

  1. Pre-feed and overflow tank.
  2. Flocculation tank with polyelectrolyte dosing.
  3. Drainage and thickening zone.
  4. Compression and dewatering zone.
  5. Discharge channel for dewatered sludge.
  6. Outer cover of the screw or screws.
  7. Support frame and drainage water collection tray.
  8. Support frame for the flocculation unit.
  9. Electrical control panel supplied separately and not installed on the equipment.

MAINTENANCE OF THE ENVIPRESS SCREW PRESS

Envipress offers exceptional performance in terms of maintenance and operational continuity:

✓ Thanks to the absence of bearings and the incorporation of a single Teflon bushing, the machine does not require continuous lubrication, unlike other sludge dewatering systems.
✓ Extraordinary maintenance is mainly limited to the future replacement of the discs, an operation that is normally carried out after 5 to 10 years of machine operation.
✓ The press has been designed to facilitate this operation, as it allows the screw to be removed from the top by opening the housing.
✓ The multi-screw configuration allows maintenance tasks to be carried out without stopping the machine. The structure of the disc-and-screw press allows the equipment to continue operating even when one or more screws are undergoing maintenance. In this way, with proper planning, it is possible to reconcile maintenance activities with operational requirements.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS: INFORMATION FOR EVALUATING A FILTER PRESS SCREW

What data do you need to prepare a quotation?

Sludge flow rate, inlet solids concentration, sludge type and origin, target dryness, daily operating hours, available space, auxiliary services and automation requirements. A sample or test helps refine the result.

What level of dryness can ENVIPRESS achieve?

Depending on the chemical, physical and biological characteristics of the sludge treated at each plant, the equipment can thicken the sludge up to 10 % dry matter or dewater it to 30 % ± 5 % dry matter.

Can it be supplied as a compact unit?

Yes. ENVIPRESS can incorporate all the equipment in the dewatering section: progressive cavity pumps for sludge feeding and polyelectrolyte dosing, sludge and polyelectrolyte flow meters, the polyelectrolyte preparation station and the conveyors for the dewatered sludge. In this way, it is supplied as a complete monoblock treatment package.

How much wash water does it require?

Very little. The movement of the discs continuously keeps the spaces between them clean, meaning that the equipment requires less wash water than other sludge dewatering systems on the market.

What maintenance does it require?

Reduced and straightforward maintenance and cleaning. The equipment has no rotors requiring periodic maintenance and operates continuously and automatically with minimal operator presence.

Can remote control be installed?

Yes, as an option. The SCAE Smart Net 4.0 system monitors the mechanical and electrical operation of the equipment 24/7, sends maintenance and fault alerts, and enables the technical service team to perform remote diagnostics.
